Or Basket Ball as it was spelled in the Owl yearbook. Here is Coach Sump Clarke and his only basketball team, during his only year to coach at Shades Cahaba. From the yearbook:
“Great interest in basket ball was shown this year. We are glad to report that there was great improvement over last year. However, we know that our success was due to hard work, continued practice and good coaching. Each player showed increased speed and endurance. The outlook for next year is good since not one of our players leaves us by graduation.”
“The team is: center, Bunt, who is captain; guards, Davidson, Hunter, Coffee and E. Davidson; forwards, McRae, Ward, Rogers, Evans and Dean.”
